I've learned from my experiences and from teachings that many of our dreams are spiritual experiences. When we sleep, we can be out of our bodies interacting with someone who is alive or someone is deceased. Some of the images we remember in dreams are in fact actual spiritual events that we took part in, and others can be messages being sent to us from someone else who may be using symbols or literal words or imagery to tell you something.
Dreams are, in my opinion, one of the biggest keys to getting in touch with your spiritual side and increasing your awareness of that part of you because after all, these memories represent a huge chunk of what we do on a spiritual level.
I can personally attest to this with my experiences, and what I have found when recalling and writing down my dreams.
There were two occasions where I had actually experienced something, in my dream, that would eventually occur in my future; for one of them, looking back, I realize that it was more symbolic and the other dream was a literal image of what was going to happen; the feelings and emotions were all the same and the people who would be involved were there. It was weird when it happened, almost like deja vu, and I think this is why some of us get deja vu, we're remembering something that we had dreamed about not too long ago.
I've also had other experiences where I would be out of my body and somewhere in my house. I also remember how often this would happen (Being out of my body) as a kid. When one of my siblings had passed away, I began sleeping with my parents in their room. I remember always having these dreams where I would be a foot or two over the bed and seeing my parents sleeping.
A more interesting event were dreams I would have about me and someone -- who at the time I was dreaming these things -- I cared about deeply. I think these dreams were images of a past life I had, because I would be with this person and they would look different, but I could sense it was them. The way she dressed reminded me of how people would dress in the US back in the 40s and 50s.
I've also had, what think to be, telepathic communication in my sleep. I remember an event where I heard a voice, that sounded like my dad, telling me to wake up because it 12:00PM. I would wake, see the clock and it was exactly that time.
There was also an event involving sleep paralysis, where a dream I had began to fade away, and eventually I saw the front of my bed room. There was a woman's voice in my head singing some song (I don't recall the melody) and as I heard the voice, I could see a white light dancing around in the front part of my room and leaving "tracks" or "trails" as it moved.
This event kind of spooked me though. LOL
But with all these things mentioned that have happened to me, I began to realize that dreams are far more than just our imaginations. We can really learn a lot about ourselves and tap into abilities that we never even knew existed or could use.
These events all occurred in a time that I call my, "spiritual peak", where I had a lot of strange things happen to me through dreams and meditation. They don't happen as often now, but I do experience some things every once in a while now.
But what I really wanted to point out is that the fact that we shouldn't ignore our dreams, and that recording dreams could be very vital for us and our spiritual development.
